What a regular clean is for
A regular clean is maintenance. It is the same visit repeating weekly or every two weeks, and its job is to keep a lived-in home at the standard you set: kitchen surfaces and the hob wiped down, the bathroom cleaned and dried, floors hoovered and mopped, bins emptied, mirrors finished, the visible dust gone.
The quiet rule of maintenance is that it works on what builds up in days. Crumbs, splashes, dust on open surfaces, a film on the hob, toothpaste marks on the mirror. All of it arrives quickly and all of it lifts quickly, which is why this kind of cleaning is booked by the hour and settles into a rhythm. Our version of it is the house cleaning service.
What a maintenance visit does not do is chase what builds up over months. Not through carelessness, through arithmetic. A weekly visit has a fixed number of hours, and those hours go where the difference shows this week. The base of the tap, the top of the extractor and the skirting behind the sofa never make that cut, so they drift, slowly, in any home that only ever gets maintenance.
